Preserving our Good Home Training
Through our research on Malinda Russell and the only known copy of her cookbook, believed to be self published in 1866, it became clear that Good Home Training begins with storytelling and continues with the preservation of family records. When we learn to archive and safely store our memories, we can call forth ancestral wisdom at any given moment and ensure that it remains accessible for generations to come.
As Good Home Training screens at festivals, museums and galleries across the country, we are also creating activations that show attendees how to capture, preserve and archive their stories, photos, videos, and family keepsakes.
The Good Home Training Preservation Project will function as a living archive of this incredible moment in time by offering family portraits and workshops that help extend the life of personal and cultural records.
Preserving our family archives is more important than ever as technologies change and museums remove important cultural artifacts. Photos, documents and recordings are biographical proof of your family’s legacy and deserve to be protected with care.
